FUNDRAISING FOR AN EXTRACORPOREAL MEMBRANE OXYGENATION (ECMO) MACHINE FOR CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL №3 IN ODESA
YOUR DONATION IS A CHILD’S CHANCE TO SURVIVE. SOMETIMES — THE ONLY ONE.
Our Foundation systematically supports City Children’s Hospital №3 in Odesa.
We are building strong relationships with the intensive care and traumatology departments by independently funding the purchase of vital medical equipment.
But ECMO is high-tech and expensive equipment, and we cannot do it without your help!
That is why we are launching a fundraiser for a Rotaflow II ECMO machine, which will become the first and only one in Odesa and the region.
ECMO, or extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, is an advanced life-support technology that temporarily replaces the functions of the heart and lungs and helps save the most critically ill patients!
The machine is used in critical, life-threatening conditions in children when no other intensive care or resuscitation methods are effective anymore.
ECMO is often the last hope, and the sooner a child can be connected to ECMO support, the greater their chances of survival.
In cases where a child cannot breathe on their own or their heart is unable to pump blood, they are connected to ECMO. The machine temporarily — from several hours to several months — replaces the functions of the heart and/or lungs, fully or partially, until they recover or are replaced.
The child’s blood is taken out of the body, oxygenated, warmed to the required temperature, and returned to the bloodstream. Also, if the heart is not functioning, the machine supports its work or temporarily takes over its function.
In this way, ECMO gives doctors time to stabilize the patient and continue lifesaving treatment.
The machine is used for such severe conditions as:
— acute respiratory distress syndrome
— pulmonary artery thrombosis
— severe pneumonia with acute respiratory failure
— respiratory and heart failure in patients who urgently need organ transplantation.
Today, children’s hospitals in Odesa and the region do not have a single ECMO machine!
That is why the most critically ill young patients have to be transported to specialized centers in other cities — Kyiv, Dnipro, or Lviv. But in critical conditions, a child simply does not have that time.
We want to change this!
Join us! We believe that together we can purchase an ECMO machine and give dozens of children from Odesa and the region a chance to be saved.
UAH 6,500,000* — for a fully equipped Rotaflow II ECMO machine in the basic configuration with a set of consumables for 3 ECMO cases.
*The Emerald Charity Foundation has covered part of the cost of the machine in the amount of UAH 2,000,000.
Estimated fundraising period: from July 2026 to December 2026.

If the implementation of the project becomes impossible, the full amount required to purchase the ECMO machine is not raised, or the cost of the equipment is lower than expected, the received charitable donations will be used to finance this project within the amount actually collected/needed, or, by decision of the Charity Foundation, directed to other charitable healthcare programs and projects that correspond to the Foundation’s statutory activities and have a similar purpose.
Every ECMO machine means dozens of survival stories. It means children receiving a chance when medicine is almost powerless.
We are raising funds so that this chance can appear for children here, in Odesa. Join us!
